Tell us a little bit about your books:

My first book is called Asian Women Who BossUp which highlights the stories of 18 Asian women who have been able to forge their own path.

My first solo book is called The Tao of Self-Confidence: A Guide to Moving Beyond Trauma and Awaken the Leader Within is about the importance to work through your traumas to show up as your best self.

My latest book is called Bridging the Confidence Gap: How Empowered Women Change the World, is a roadmap for women in leadership.

What three words would you use to describe your books?

Confidence, Leadership, Representation

What do you think are the biggest road blocks for a woman's self confidence?

How they perceive themselves is the biggest roadblock that a woman faces. Women are more capable than they realize but feel like they are not enough when it's the total opposite.

Your podcast, which shares the same name as your first book, The Tao of Self Confidence, has over 900 episodes and has been running for almost a decade! Have you seen any changes in women during this time?

Women are more willing to forge their own path, step up and show up to the world. They realize their power to create something great and impactful.

A lot of your work focuses on empowering Asian women from all backgrounds. What struggles do Asian women in particular face?

Asian women face many struggles such as the negative stereotypes. Asian women are seen as quiet, submissive and obedient which stops us from being seen as a leader. Also, how we are brought up makes us feel small and invisible. We are told to never make any noise, do as your told and stay in the background.

Why is representation so important?

Representation is important because it shows the current and future generations what is possible for themselves when they see someone that looks like them break barriers.

You wrote your first book in under three months, which is quite the accomplishment! What drove you to finishing it so quickly?

The tight deadline was the driving force. Having a deadline can help you make it happen regardless of the circumstances.

Since you have both indie and trad published books, do you have any advice for aspiring authors who are wondering which route to take?

There's no shame in self-published books. If you are someone who is just starting out, I would go the indie route to start building your brand.

What advice can you give for in-person book signings and events?

Bring some candy and make sure you have marketing material so people are aware of you and your brand.
